Tom Colicchio Brings New York Take-out To Another Level With wichcraft
Tom Colicchio announced that he signed a lease at 49 East 19th Street, next door to craftbar, where he plans to open wichcraft, a take-out sandwich shop. The opening is slated for early March, 2003.
wichcraft will be open daily for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast items include brioche cinnamon buns, fried egg and bacon sandwich with frisie and gorgonzola, fresh fruit juice, assorted teas and coffee. The lunch menu features sandwiches of all kinds: both hot and cold and several grilled cheese (See attached menu for a complete list of breakfast and lunch items).
Sisha Ortuzar, ex-sous chef at both Gramercy Tavern and craft is the chef at wichcraft. Karen DeMasco, pastry chef at craft and craftbar, will be making breakfast pastries, desserts, and afternoon treats.
wichcrafts space is naturally light and airy with a two story-tall ceiling and a balcony for seating. It will be minimalist in design, employing simple elements such as a gleaming stainless steel open kitchen and countertops, cherry wood tables for seating, along with the spaces original tin ceiling and wood floors.
At wichcraft, customers will order their meal at the counter either to-go, or to stay and sit at one of the stores tables or dining counter.
Also available at wichcraft will be charcuterie by the pound, farmers market fruit in season, craftkitchen, Tom Colicchios line of imported olive oils and condiments, teas and coffee, and other specialty items.
wichcraft will be open daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
