Ultimate Baristi Brewing In Beijing

Specialty Coffee comes of age in China with
The Ultimate Barista Challenge� Beijing Showcase.

FHC Beijing, the 7th International Exhibition of Food & Drink, Retail Hospitality Equipment, Supplies and Services were held at the China World Trade Center, Beijing from June 13 - 15, 2007. FHC featured the new barista competition, The Ultimate Barista Challenge� Beijing Showcase premiering to 10,000 curious attendees.

Ultimate Barista USA Ryan Dennhardt jousted with Ultimate Barista China Kelvin Huang in a series of dueling challenges in Caffe Latte Art - milk and espresso deisgns, Espresso Frappe - iced blended drinks and Espresso Cocktail - espresso, alcohol and other ingredients of the barista choice. Master of Ceremonies and event co-creator Danny Johns of WholeCup Coffee Consulting, LLC, hosted the Ultimate Baristi and entertained the crowd with coffee questions and education, lore and playful banter keeping the show lively and entertaining.

Head Judge Sherri Johns, also of WholeCup Coffee Consulting LLC provided judges calibration training prior to the challenge start, made certain baristi maintained quality standards and all rules and regulations were met. Special guest judges from Milan Gold Coffee Co. Ltd. and the Colombia Coffee Federation were delighted to participate in the tasting rounds and very happy to share their esteemed opinion of the baristi and their drinks.

"Our goal is to introduce professional barista and coffee brewing skills to restaurants of the world." Co-creator and Master of Ceremonies, Danny Johns, exclaims. "How many times have you enjoyed a wonderful meal, only to be served a bad cup of coffee afterwards? Good coffee and espresso need to be included as part of the overall dining experience. We are here to share, inspire and help educate."

Ultimate Barista USA, 2004 National medalist and regional Champion, Ryan Reinhardt, from Barista's Daily Grind in Kearney Nebraska. and Ultimate Barista China Kelvin Huang the 2005 China National Barista Champion and 2006 Tea & Coffee World Cup Latte Art Champion on China, were chosen to represent the first Ultimate Baristi China Beijing showcase event because of their amazing performance records as professional competition baristi and their status in today's coffee market place here in the USA and in China!
