Vermilion Restaurant Celebrates Diwali

VERMILION RESTAURANT CELEBRATES DIWALI,
THE INDIAN FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS AND THE NEW YEAR
OCTOBER 16-21, 2006

Special Diwali Menu Celebratory Touches to Stimulate the Senses

CHICAGO (September 8, 2006) - If the fun of New Year's seems a bit distant, Vermilion
(10 W. Hubbard St.) invites you to join in the celebration of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights and the New Year, with special festivities from October 16 through 21. Diwali, India's most auspicious and widely celebrated festival, is a day of renewal that marks the Indian New Year. It is the day on which Indians of all ages, languages, states and sects usher prosperity into their homes and businesses. Owner Rohini Dey is pleased to once again bring the Diwali celebration to Vermilion in style - with a special celebratory menu, Diwali cocktails, music, and traditional festival dicor.

All week long, Vermilion will be adorned with the warm glow of diyas (traditional hand-painted clay votives), the fragrance of tropical roses and jasmine, and traditional colorful rangoli patterns. Executive Chef Maneet Chauhan will offer a special prix-fixe 3-course Nawabi menu, which will include such traditional dishes as minted malai kebab starters, nawabi biryani with a spicy chutney and shahi raita with dried nuts and herbs, and for dessert, saffron phirnee. Exotic thandai shooters and celebratory chaat menu selections (Indian street food traditionally eaten on Diwali) will also be served. Guests will sip the "Golden Goddess" or the "Diwali Aflame," sparkling cocktails that simulate the glittering fireworks and illumination of the evening.

On Saturday, October 21, the New Year spirit will culminate as Vermilion hosts a special guest DJ in the lounge area beginning at 10 p.m. Dance your way into the New Year to the sounds of Bollywood, Bhangra, and Indian fusion beats. This will be a spirited - even raucous - evening of delicious food and drink, music and dancing that should not be missed!
