Vittorio's Restaurant And Wine Bar Included Among America's 1,000 Top Italian Restaurants By Zagat Survey
Vittorio's Restaurant and Wine Bar (184 Broadway, Amityville, NY (631) 264-3333 or www.vittorios.biz) has been chosen as one of the top Italian restaurants in the country by Zagat Survey and has been included in their 2008 America's Top 1,000 Italian Restaurants Guide.
The guide was created in conjunction with Buonitalia S.P.A., a company formed by the Italian Ministry for Agriculture Food and Forestry polices. Buonitalia celebrates restaurants highlighted in the guide for providing what they call the "Real Taste of Italy." This experience is made up of: the warmth of the welcome and skills of the restaurant, how genuine the restaurants products are, and, the art of using simple and original cooking techniques to bring out the excellence of Italian ingredients. Buonitalia believes the restaurants highlighted in the guide have all of these qualities and also serve as the de facto ambassadors for fine Italian cuisine.
Vittorio's Restaurant and Wine Bar received a 23 out of 30 for food, a 21 out of 30 for dcor, and a 23 out of 30 for service. Comments from consumers include: "Everyone will be happy" with the "stick-to-your-ribs" American-Italian dishes at this Amityville "find" where the "comforting" menu (highlighting steak on Wednesdays) is abetted by a 150-strong wine list; it can be "a little tight for large parties", but its upscale look and what some deem the "best staff on the planet" add to a "relaxing atmosphere."
Vittorio's Restaurant and Wine Bar offers dining with a unique blend of American specialties and classic Italian dishes. Owner Michael Vittorio Esposito grew up working in his father's pizzeria, located across the street from Vittorio's in Amityville Village, with dreams of one day starting his own restaurant. On Valentine's Day of 2002, Esposito fulfilled his lifelong dream. In the process of opening Vittorio's, named in honor of his father, he also pioneered the facelift of the Broadway area. He returned a landmark 1880s building, once a pharmacy at the center of the community, to its former prominence. Today, Vittorio's is an established member of Long Island's fine dining community. In 2008, Long Island Press readers voted Vittorio's #1 wine bar. In 2007, Wine Spectator awarded the Vittorio's its second Award of Excellence. Zagat Survey calls Vittorio's a "pleasing" "local spot" where "everyone will be happy" and with a "comforting" menu.
