Walter's Restaurant In Portland To Host Multi-course Cold River Vodka Cocktail Hour And Dinner On June 3
Collaborative dinner to showcase global menu paired with innovative and classic cocktails
Portland, Maine - Walter's (www.waltersportland.com), the popular Portland hotspot known as much for its inventive lunch, dinner and bar menus as its expansive cocktail list, is teaming with Maine Distilleries, creators of Cold River Vodka (www.coldrivervodka.com), for a June 3 multi-course cocktail hour and dinner. A welcoming cocktail hour, complete with Cold River cocktail selections paired with passed appetizers to complement the spirits, will kick off the evening at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by a seated, four-course dinner at 7:30 p.m.
Jeff Buerhaus, Walter's owner and executive chef, is designing the evening's menu to feature Cold River Vodka in select dishes, while Walter's Bar Manager Steve Lovenguth will present attendees with a specially created array of Cold River cocktails. One guest, drawn at random during the evening, will win a gift basket full of items from Maine Distilleries and Walter's.
Highlights of Chef Buerhaus's menu for the evening will include a pastrami-cured duck breast appetizer, a roasted spring lamb chop, a vodka-based pasta dish with crumbled Greek farm cheese, and blueberry vodka cheesecake for dessert. Standouts among the cocktails Lovenguth plans to serve include the "Nor'easter," featuring Cold River's Blueberry Vodka and HoneyMaker Blueberry Mead, and the "Far East River," which includes Lemongrass-infused Cold River vodka and ginger liqueur.
"We've really enjoyed putting this menu together and look forward to sharing it with guests at our June 3 cocktail dinner," Buerhaus said. "It's been a lot of fun to experiment with all the different ways to serve and cook with this unique Maine spirit."
In a nod to the evening's culinary focus, Walter's and Cold River Vodka will make a joint donation to the Maine Restaurant Association Education Foundation, which provides scholarships to deserving students pursuing post-secondary degrees in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management programs.
The cost of the June 3 cocktail hour and dinner is $75 per person (exclusive of tax/gratuity). For reservations, call (207) 871-9258.
