Walter's Restaurant Of Portland, Maine Moves To Expanded Old Port Location

Walter's restaurant (www.walterscafe.com), a long-time Portland favorite of locals, visitors, and professionals, today announced plans to move to a new address in the Old Port.

Owners Jeff and Cheryl Buerhaus are looking forward to beginning the next chapter of Walter's when the restaurant moves in mid-October to its new location at 2 Portland Square, on Union Street between Middle and Fore Streets.

"This is the next step in our Portland history," noted Cheryl Buerhaus, who owns and operates Walter's with her husband, Executive Chef Jeff Buerhaus. "We've received great ideas from our loyal customers, and many are incorporated into our new space."

The restaurant will continue to offer the same seasonal menu in its new setting, along with an expanded lounge area, new bar menu, and complimentary parking after six p.m.-an added bonus for diners and a rarity among Old Port restaurants.

Walter's 2 Portland Square location will still be in the heart of the Old Port and convenient to downtown businesses, Old Port shops, Merrill Auditorium, and the waterfront.

The larger lounge and bar area and new bar menu will allow Walter's to offer service from 11:30 a.m. until midnight, and Walter's will continue to offer a seasonally changing menu which focuses on Mediterranean, Asian and Caribbean flavors, emphasized Chef Jeff Buerhaus.

"We've been in the Old Port for a number of years, and we appreciate the loyal following we've developed for lunch and dinner," he said.

"Our focus and commitment to serving creative dishes in a comfortable setting remain unchanged, and we're looking forward to greeting our longtime guests and welcoming new diners to our new location."
