The Whiteface Lodge Wins Wine Spectator Magazine's "award Of Excellence"
The Whiteface Lodge is pleased to announce that Kanu, the resort's main dining area, has received Wine Spectator Magazine's "Award of Excellence" for the fifth consecutive year.
Part of Wine Spectator Magazine's criteria for granting this prestigious accolade includes "recognizing restaurants from around the world whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers."
Kanu's wine program is developed and supervised by Scott Waller, the Lodge's Sommelier for more than six years. Upon receiving the "Award of Excellence" for the fifth time, Mr. Waller commented, "Kanu's wine list was developed to represent an interesting and wide range of regions from around the world, as well as offer different pricing levels so that all guests will find a wine to suit their palate."
"Winning the 'Award of Excellence' again reflects Scott's commitment to keeping Kanu's wine list continuously updated by adding new styles and flavors that surprise and delight our repeat guests, new visitors and friends from the local community," said Phil Anderson, General Manager, the Whiteface Lodge.
"In updating Kanu's wine list, I search for varietal representation and balanced wines that complement our seasonal menus and work in sync with the vision of our Executive Chef. My goal is to support - not overwhelm - the flavors of the sophisticated fare in Kanu," continued Mr. Waller.
Kanu is a favorite dining spot for Lodge guests. The restaurant's dramatic Adirondack setting features plush furnishings, 28-foot soaring rooflines, as well as several large granite fireplaces-- creating an elegant and cozy ambiance. It is ideal for a relaxing three- or four-course wine-pairing experience.
