For the next month, the chef in your life is the chef who’s not in your life, as the men and women in white are doubling down on shifts and party prep and feeding enough revelers to make their hearts weary. To sustain them through New Year’s and satisfy their deep-seated hunger for simple, exquisite foods (made by someone else!), we’ve assembled a list of our favorite edible artisan goods from across the country—made by dedicated craftsmen, who are no doubt in the midst of their own type of production nightmare.
We’d recommend rolling 12 days of Christmas style (the eight nights of Hanukkah came too early for us this year) or stuffing stockings till they burst with chocolates, coffee, ham, and tonic—the chef who’s not in your life right now may even have time to write you a thank you note come January 1.
